'FACING THE GIANTS' HELD OVER ANOTHER WEEK
Nov 9 2006 - Cordele Dispatch
CORDELE—”Facing the Giants,” the inspiring film about a football coach who deals with salvation and issues of infertility, is setting box office records in Cordele, beating out Pirates of the Carribean as the movie that has drawn the most people into Spotlight Theatres.
Lori Brian, co-owner of Cordele Stadium 5, said, “the small local movie, filmed right around the corner from Cordele in Albany, has knocked out the giant movie ‘Pirates of the Carribean’ as our number one movie since our family re-opened the theatre June 28.
“We’ve had 3,194 people come see ‘Facing the Giants’ which made up 30% of our gross revenue all by itself this week.
“Because of the overwhelming response to this movie, we will hold ‘Facing the Giants’ for yet another week (through Thursday, Nov. 16.) After more than three weeks, the churches, youth groups, schools and football teams are still coming in,” according to Brian.
Stephen Kendrick and brother Alex , members of the Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, both had a hand in co-writing the movie script.
Spotlight Theatres has plans as Lori announced for, “more family and faith based movies, which we are pleased to bring to Cordele. As requested by so many new patrons, we are bringing in ‘One Knight With The King,’ (the story of Esther), starting at 4:40 this Friday.”
Other family type movies coming to Spotlight Theatres in the near future are “Flicka,” “Happy Feet,” “Charlottes Web” and the ”Nativity Story.”
