'FACING THE GIANTS' SHOWING EXTENDED

CORDELE — “Facing the Giants” will run through Nov. 2 in Cordele, according to Lori Brian, co-owner of Spotlight Theatre.

Stephen Kendrick and brother Alex are members of the Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, and both had a hand in co-writing the movie script. Alex played the part of the coach in the film which deals with salvation and an infertility issue involving the football coach in his marriage. “God performs a miracle and his wife is able to conceive a child,” Kendrick said.

Other special promotions include a special double feature of “Saw I and II” through Thursday. Ticket purchasers can get a free ticket into “Saw III” this weekend – which is being shown in conjunction with the theatre’s Halloween blood drive this Saturday.

Spotlight Theatres and the American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 12:30 – 5:30 in the parking lot. Anyone who participates also gets into Saw III for free.

Ms. Brian said, “we are hoping that the community comes out and supports this blood drive, as we are told that blood supplies are really low now and the Red Cross is in real need of blood donors.

“Those of us who are blessed with good health should do what we can to help those that we can. The theatre is pleased to offer its support for such a good cause.

“Our staff will be in Halloween costumes that Saturday night. Children in costumes are invited to trick or treat in the theatre lobby from 5 to 9 p.m.” However they will not be admitted into the movie free of charge. “ We will have staff on duty to hand out candy to the children of Cordele, regardless of whether they are going to the movie,” according to Brian.

November Movies scheduled for the Starlight Theatre include “Happy Feet”,” “Flushed Away”, and “Santa Clause, The Escape Clause,” all family movies.
