LONGANVILLE TO GET 12 SCREEN CINEMA
April 18 2008
Loganville residents can look forward to a new, state-of-the-art movie theater to open in the summer of 2009.
The 12-screen theater will be built just outside Loganville on bustling Ga. 78 as part of the Landings at Creekside, said Mike Spaeth, spokesman for Spotlight Theatres.
"There's a ton of buzz about it," he said. "The reaction has been very positive."
That also means about 50 new jobs, Spaeth said. The company will hire three or four full-time managers and about 45 part-time employees, which could include senior citizens, teenagers and others, he said.
The theater is part of a trend to bring family entertainment to the area. A bowling alley opened last year in the same complex. The development also includes a sports center, which offers indoor soccer facilities. Shops and restaurants are planned.
The theater will offer stadium seating, concessions and on-line ticketing. Taller residents should appreciate the extra legroom and high-back seats that rock.
Spotlight was founded in 2003 by Joseph Paletta III, who gained his experience in the field by working for the Regal Entertainment Group for 15 years.
The company has a theater in Cordele and this summer will open a new one in Reynolds Plantation, Spaeth said.
