MOVIE THEATER TO OPEN ON HWY. 78

GWINNETT COUNTY — Entertainment alley is expanding in Gwinnett County again and this time it’s bringing a movie theater to the Loganville area.

Richard Kline of the Paletta Group, LLC announced it has formed a “strategic alliance” with Meridian Development in Loganville with plans to open a 12-screen movie theater by the summer of 2009.

The development, to be named the Landings at Creekside, will expand the entertainment opportunities already offered by the Oasis Bowling Alley on Highway 78 in Gwinnett County — just outside the Loganville city limits. According to the release, the entertainment and retail center plans to offer food, entertainment and shopping for the entire family.

“We are very excited to bring quality entertainment, food and shopping to Loganville,” Joey Welch, vice president of Meridian Development said in the release.

“This complex will help to complete our vision of creating a family entertainment destination of choice for the entire region,” Welch said.

The Creekside Sports Center that also opened last year is on one side of the bowling alley — the movie theater is scheduled to go in on the other. The strip of land down Highway 78 is situated between the cities of Snellville and Loganville and is fast becoming the location of choice for restaurants and entertainment centers.

Kline said the Paletta Group joined with Meridian Development to bring the proposed 78,000-square-foot family entertainment and retail development to the area.

“We are pleased to have a strategic quality partner like Meridian Development and look forward to further bringing state-of-the-art entertainment and retail businesses to the center,” Kline said.

Mike Spaeth of Spotlight Theaters gave more information on the 12-screen theatre.

“It will feature high back seats that rock with wide spacing between rows for extra legroom and 18-inch stadium risers for unobstructed views,” Spaeth said. “All auditoriums will have the latest digital audio and projection equipment. In addition patrons will enjoy amenities like online ticketing, will-call, an expanded concession menu and guaranteed seating.”
